The GX has a number of safety upgrades this year that include a roll-sensing feature for the side-curtain airbags, a tire-pressure monitoring system and an optional rear backup camera system (for those vehicles with the navigation system installed). An optional Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System will be available as a late-year addition.

• Luxurious cabin furnishings, plush ride quality, fine road manners, smooth drivetrain, plenty of off-road ability should you need it.

• Very tight quarters in optional third-row seat, limited rearward visibility, modest top-end horsepower.

  Lexus has proven itself again. The 2004 has beem improved to include a Kinetic suspension system -- even more comfortable ride than 2003. Also, the NAV system now includes a rear camera for safety and ease of parking! This is a fantastic machine!

  We have owned our GX 470 for about 2 months and are extremely pleased with our purchase. Very comfortable ride, drives like a car, solid pickup. Good in-vehicle gadgetry. Great dealer support. Gas mileage appears to be worse than reported.

  With this vehicle, you look for places to drive. Its comfortable, smooth, quiet, surefooted and handles better than most cars. Every feature and button is laid out where it should be. Navigation system is by far the best in the industry. Touch screen also carries the radio, climate control & DVD. MBs is frustrating to use. Vehicle is unstoppable. Ive had journeys through 40" snow storms with ease and have traversed uphill dirt piles for fun. Of every 4wd vehicle Ive had, this is the most capable.

  The GX 470 is a dream of a car. Solid handling, plush interior, sharp lines and great ride for such a short wheelbase. Very quiet and roomy.

  I bought this car because we recently had an addition to the family and my 2005 Mustang GT just wasnt going to be suitable for all the appurtenances that go with a newborn. Anyway, I have never driven such a luxurious vehicle. Its quiet, powerful for an SUV, has a great sound system and the navigation is easy to use. Not to mention that it is a Lexus and is No. 1 in manufacturer reliability. Also, the materials are top quality.

  I thought I wanted an LX430, but the tax incentives forced me to consider an SUV. I looked at several, and fell in love with the GX470 "mid-sized" Lexus SUV. It is definitel "full-sized", but my very tiny wife LOVES to drive this car, as do I. I am a big man, and comfort is very important to me, as well as style, convenience and performance. I have owned several luxury vehicles, and this is my favorite so far. EASY handling, nice ride, beautiful sound system, great finish. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a top notch SUV.

  I had bought a Jeep brand new and had nothing but probelms. Own a toyota and never had a problem. Loved the idea of the "all new toyota r-runner" but hated the new body style. When the GX came out I read everything I could find on it. I am very very pleased with the quality, comfort and class.

  I was driving a Vette and felt it was time to purchase a more family friendly vehicle. The GX blew away the competition! Smooth ride and zips around town & into parking areas with ease. The interior is as plush as a home den. I like the rear side- opening barn door. Its light weight and easy to handle. I have banged my head on my husbands up & away tailgate. I continue to be amazed at all the safety features incl. automatic lighting inside & out which assures safe passage to and from the house, multiple side curtain airbags and rear view camera for backing up. Too many well planned ammenities to list...
